Get to know Pete...
What would you be doing for a living if you weren't a farmer?
I would be paralyzed; I wouldn’t be able to do anything else. Farming is what I have always done and it’s what I will always do. In the winter months I work as a carpenter but I’m a farmer first.
What do you enjoy about farming?
I love to be outside and I love the wide open space in the fields, so picking and planting are pretty high on the list. Another thing I really enjoy is that, although the work is extremely difficult, the reward I get from a hard worked day is genuinely fulfilling.
What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t farming?
I play a lot of music on the guitar and harmonica. I enjoy spending time with my family, painting, sketching, whittling, and just about anything outdoors.
What are some traits you feel are important to your work as a farmer?
I believe that I am a strong, hard working guy. Also, I feel like I am positive and reliable, not to mention deceivingly witty.
What are some of your fondest or strongest memories of growing up on a farm?
It would be hard to pick just one; I had a great childhood. Growing up with eight brothers and one sister, it can get crowded but we learned life lessons from each other and I think we turned out fine.
What are your favorite things about your brothers/partners?
My brothers are hardworking, stand-up guys. I love their positive, creative outlook on life. I truly couldn’t ask for better partners in business or in life.
